El viernes salimos Sara y Ryan y yo durante la Semana Santa a proveer un poco de alivio a nuestros hermanos al otro lado de la frontera. Esta miseria de viviendas no es nada fuera del lugar para muchos que viven aqui.
March 26-April 4, our destination is San Quintin, Mexico.
On Friday we left, Sara, Ryan y yo during Easter Week to provide a little help to our brothers and sisters across the border. These miserable dwellings aren't not out of place for many who live here.

San Quintin geographically is home to one of the largest protected bays on the west coast of Baja. It actually consists of 3 different bays which includes the outer bay of Bahia Santa Maria to the south, as well as the two inner bays of Bahia Falso and San Quintin Bay. The San Quintin Bay is bounded by five large extinct volcanic cones.
Geograficamente, San Quintin es el hogar de una de las bahias mas grande y protegida en la costa oeste de Baja. Realmente consiste de 3 bahias distintas, incluyendo la Bahia Santa Maria en la parte afuera, y las dos bahias adentro, la de Bahia Falso y la Bahia de San Quintin. La Bahia de San Quintin esta circundada por cinco conos grandes de volcanos extinguidos.

The bays and marshes south of the town have some of the best birding, with a big variety of birds, in Baja. This mostly agricultural area is 190 miles south of the U.S. border, roughly a four hour drive south of the border. It is the last coastal tourist town before the Baja Highway heads down and over towards the east side of the Peninsula.
This is literally the "last stop" for hours.

Los jovenes, menos unos pocos, como Ryan quien no estuvo para la foto. Estare yo la mayoria del tiempo con el medico Wong, en la esquina, derecha de la foto y otros medicos ayudando de traductora y con cualquier cosa que se necesite.
The young people, except Ryan who wasn't there for the picture. I will be most of the time with Dr. Wong who is in the top right corner of the picture, and other doctors helping with translation and any other thing they might need.

Gracias Grandpa Rich por llamarnos a aconsejar que no vayamos. Agradezco tu atencion al respecto y que hayas pensado tanto en nuestra seguridad. Y reconozco tu conocimiento de esta tierra de Baja California con los anios que llevas pescando en sus mares y viviendo en su costa. Han sido todas las areas fronterizas zonas peligrosas por causa de los cuarteles de drogas y las pandillas. Tomaremos aun mas precauciones because of you. Eres un buenacho.
Thank you, Grandpa Rich for calling us from San Diego to advise against the trip. I appreciate your attention in this matter and that you have thought a lot about our safety. And I recognize your knowledge of this area having fished the seas here and lived on this coast. There have been dangerous border zones because of the drug cartels and gangs. I will be more careful than ever because of you. Youre such a good guy.

Gracias Abuela Wendy por mantener la casa en nuestra ausencia - el dar de comer a 5 peces, 5 gallinas, 1 perro labrador, 1 gato blanco, 1 rata, y 1 cui (madre mia!,) regar los jardines y floreros, recoger el correo, etc . . .. Tambien haces posible este viaje.
Thank you Grandma Wendy for taking care of the house while we're away - feeding 5 fish, 5 chickens, 1 black lab, 1 white cat, 1 rat, and 1 guinea pig (my mother!) water the gardens and flower beds, pick up the mail, etc.. You help make this trip possible.
