For Today's Veterans

Thinking of all of you Veterans on Veterans' Day:
Tahoe, CA, August 2011
I am so grateful to the millions of veterans who have served our country faithfully and sacrificially to ensure the preservation of our political and social freedoms. Because you served us, we are able to enjoy an even greater freedom. A freedom that, even today, many around the world are forbidden to enjoy - the freedom to worship our Creator.

In the service of your country you were called to do difficult things under stressful circumstances and you faithfully answered that call. Many of you were placed in situations where you were forced to make split-second decisions. You willingly and courageously stepped into harms way so that we could rest, work and play in relative safety. You risked your lives in ways none of us may ever know. Thank you for embracing the risk. Thank you for your faithful service to our country.

My prayer for you this weekend is...

"May the LORD bless you and keep you; the LORD make his face to shine upon you and be gracious to you; the LORD lift up his countenance upon you and give you peace."
~Numbers 6:24-26

  1. My husband is a veteran. This holiday is always a tough one for us--in the midst of celebrating the people who purchased our freedoms, he mourns so much. People he lost...and the parts of himself that either died, or surfaced in the midst of those decisions you mentioned.

What a lovely, eloquent post....thank you.

    1. Sweet friend, I needed to respond last year. Thank you for this comment. I can't imagine the place he must be in each year at this time. Love and blessings to him and all your household.
