I recently watched an "energetic, made me laugh" video (Dance Like Nobody's Watching-Laundromat) of a young gal, who upon hearing the music couldn't stop her crazy feet and body from dancing away to her heart's content. Well, something akin to that happens when when we have Tribal reunions. The music is contagious, graceful arms float upward and flamenco-like hands begin to talk. Hips unabashedly shake out a rhythm unique to American Tribal Style, a colorful fusion of traditional dance movements from around the world.
Hace poco vi un "enérgico, me hizo reír" video, (Dance Like Nobody's Watching) de una chica joven en una lavandería, quien al escuchar la música no puede detener sus pies (ni su cuerpo) de bailar a su antojo. Bueno, algo parecido a lo que sucede cuando tenemos reuniones tribales. La música es contagiosa, gráciles brazos flotan hacia arriba y las manos comienzan a hablar como en flamenco. Las caderas descaradamente se mueven a un ritmo único de Estilo Tribal Americano, una colorida fusión de movimientos de danzas tradicionales de todo el mundo.

The prevailing music is Egyptian folk and classical Arabic, but it also includes Middle Eastern and African folk songs and even some contemporaneous music as well.

Tribal System movements blend the cultures mentioned with Flamenco, symbolized by arms raised and graceful hands. Flamenco began with a time when the gypsies arrived to the south of Spain around 1425. They mostly came from India and brought with them many song and dance styles that have strong Indian connections. At this time Andalucía, the south, was still under Arab rule.There was a time of many years when the Gypsies along with the Christians, Jews and Moors lived in relative harmony.  Their dance and music flourished.

Los movimientos combinan las culturas mencionadas anteriormente con el flamenco, simbolizados por los brazos levantados y las manos llenas de gracia. El flamenco se inició con un el momento en que los gitanos llegaron al sur de España desde la India alrededor de 1415. Traían consigo muchas canciones y estilos de baile que tienen fuertes conexiones indias. En ese momento parte de Andalucía, el sur, todavía estaba bajo el dominio árabe. Hubo un momento de muchos años, cuando los gitanos, junto con los cristianos, judíos y musulmanes vivían en relativa armonía. Su danza y su música florecieron.

In American Tribal Style the group or "the tribe", rather than the individual, is at the core. The unity and  reunion of women is the most important thing and is what is celebrated through dance.
