A God Thing at Concordia University

Last week we went to our first STOA League Speech & Debate Tournament. I drove south (Irvine, CA) with the kids with feelings of guilt because I hadn't given my youngest son the necessary time to practice his speeches and prepare his boards for the competition.

In our hotel room he practices and practiced and I notices how much he had needed me and how much his speeches still lacked before they were ready for him to compete.

(here you can see that he also played a lot to "be at his best" he told me - it's true, we have to remember that we have to play a lot in life to have success - heehee.)
Listos?
Ready? Here he is with Danny and their Duo Interpretation of Wonka and the Glass Elevator.

Just imagine, then, my surprise when I found out that Mark had advanced to the next level! He continued to advance in three of his four speech categories for which he had prepared. In two he advanced to the final round!!!! So, with a tournament of more than 500 competitors he won seventh and eigth place at his first tournament.
