Lloviendo Gatos y Perros


Spanish people think the English saying, "It's raining cats and dogs" is very funny.  And it is, don't you think? What would be the origin of such a phrase? Just imagine it, as I used to, being the literal thinker that I am, dogs and cats dropping out of the clouds. . .  That would be something!
Los españoles piensan que el dicho inglés: "Está lloviendo gatos y perros" es muy divertido. Y lo es, no crees? ¿Cuál sería el origen de esa frase? Sólo tienes que imaginar, como yo solía hacerlo, siendo el pensador literal que soy, perros y gatos cayendo de las nubes... Eso sería algo!
Well, here in the Province of León, it is raining a cántaros, buckets, and has been all day. In the mountains, on the plain and on the slopped tile roof over our bedroom. Dogs and cats, aren't you glad you're on safe ground?
Bueno, aquí en la provincia de León, está lloviendo a cántaros, cubos, y ha estado todo el día. En la montaña, en el llano y en el tejado sobre nuestro dormitorio. Perros y gatos, no están contentos de estar en terreno seguro?

    Aquí llueven "chuzos de punta", tampoco se el origen de esta forma de expresarlo, pero lo de gatos y perros es sinceramente así, como decir hace un día de perros, pobres animales, con lo poco que les gusta la lluvia. Estos días son para quedarse en casa y disfrutar. Un fuerte abrazo y hasta pronto.

      Como ves, Carlos, he pegado tu tarjeta. Me encantó. Y claro, esta semana ya no hemos tenido tanta lluvia sino nieve! El tiempo emocionante este invierno. Seguro que lo estás disfrutando al tope en esas montañas tuyas!
